April 9 - Semi-friendly Red-breasted Nuthatch

One of the juncos today was hopping around on my car with nesting material looking very interested in the space below the windshield wipers while another one watched. I opened the door and suggested that they find a safer place to nest. They took my advice.

I sidled up to one at the feeder and it waited until my hand was just over a foot from it before flying about three feet away to a tree branch. I backed off and it came right back to eat so I let it dine in peace.
